With the onset of the smart-gear revolution, there are several touch screen all-in-one devices coming to the open market. So, where do we find the optimal device? Where do we get something that does everything we need it to do, and how do we make the choice?
Samsung is set to release its Galaxy S Tablet on November 11, 2010 made available through all major carriers. Lets check out its specs first. The Tab has a 7 inch LCD screen with 1024X600 resolution; the screen size is perfect allowing for a single hand grip, freeing your other hand do do the navigating. This sleek device runs Android 2.2 (Froyo) and packs in 7 hours of continuous movie play. This Android device comes equipped with 2 cameras: a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video conferencing, and a 3.0 megapixel camera for general photo and video use. Unlike the Ipad, the Tab accepts flash, seamlessly integrating media from the web.
The Tab has vast implementations for an all-in-one device. My favorite feature of this android based device is the ability to swipe text. All it takes is sliding your finger to each letter of the word only lifting between words, which acts as a space. Also, there is a voice to text feature. Just hit the microphone button and say what you need to. Although not always perfect, it is a great way to hands free text.
If you run a business, or are even just an on the go person, this device is very practical. It allots for multiple email accounts, allowing you to use business and personal email on the fly. With each email account you can automatically sync your contacts to your device so you stay integrated. with friends' and coworkers' information. Get your favorite reads with the variety of applications from online news, to magazine, to e-books all in one paperless device. If you need to go somewhere, the tab also acts as a GPS device using Google Maps Navigation eliminating the need for a separate GPS device. There is a large market of Android applications that serve any need. Tools that manage your finances and where you are spending money, to calendars that make sure you are scheduled properly and integrated social media. Because the Tab can has both wi-fi and run on the 3G network, there is no need for the extra cost of home phones or internet.
The Tab seems like it will be a fun to use and easy to read text device. As an owner of the Galaxy Vibrant, I have become a more efficient multi-tasker and learned to seamlessly integrate all I need for business and play. I can only imagine the added capability of having video conferencing, and a larger screen so that i may work more efficiently.
